The O.F.O.A was founded in 1998 with the purpose of uniting all approved officials’ associations in Ontario under one umbrella. Over six hundred officials from nineteen local associations make up the O.F.O.A. membership. The association provides certification programs, education, and training to its members and provides service to amateur football organizations and schools throughout Ontario.
Football requires impartial, competent officials to ensure the game is played fairly and safely. There is a need for football officials! If you enjoy the game of football, this is a wonderful way to be part of a great sport and provide a vital service at the same time.
A local officials’ association will provide you with the necessary classroom and field training to become a certified official. Those who have previously played the game may have a head start with rules knowledge and a “feel for the game,” however, this is not a prerequisite. A willingness to learn the rules, officiating mechanics, and gain experience are all that are required. The rewards are many . . . physical activity, teamwork, new friendships.
